Making its debut at the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Toyota Land Cruiser ROX Concept pays homage to the iconic open-air FJ40 Land Cruisers of the ’60s and ’70s. Developed by Toyota’s CALTY Design Research in Michigan, the ROX Concept is based on the Land Cruiser 250 and reimagines the modern SUV with more than 50% new design elements, offering a fresh perspective on open-air off-road experiences.
The Land Cruiser ROX Concept features a unique open-air design, with “skeletonized” doors that have open panels on the top and bottom, allowing for increased visibility and connectivity with the surrounding environment. Aggressive styling cues, such as rocker panels, rock rails, and fender flares, emphasize the vehicle’s off-road prowess and durability.
The small truck bed of the ROX Concept includes a functional mid-gate that enables passengers to access the bed from the cabin, offering versatility and convenience during outdoor adventures. A sliding soft-top provides protection from the elements while maintaining the open-air feel that the concept aims to capture.
The interior of the Land Cruiser ROX Concept showcases premium materials and modern technology, combining the best of Toyota’s craftsmanship and innovation. With its bold design and adventurous spirit, the ROX Concept is a testament to Toyota’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of off-road capability and creating vehicles that inspire drivers to explore new horizons.
As a concept vehicle, the Toyota Land Cruiser ROX captures the essence of open-air adventure and pays tribute to the brand’s legendary off-road heritage. With its unique design and innovative features, the ROX Concept is a true embodiment of Toyota’s dedication to creating vehicles that not only perform exceptionally but also evoke a sense of excitement and wonder.
